BiographyDr. Plourde is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Manitoba and fellowships in Tropical Diseases at the University of Toronto and Infectious Diseases at the University of Manitoba and the University of Nairobi. He is currently a Medical Officer of Health for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) and Professor in the Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. He is also Medical Director of the Travel Health and Tropical Medicine Services and the Healthy Sexuality and Harm Reduction team within the WRHA Public Health Program; and he is Medical Director of WRHA Integrated Tuberculosis Services. Dr. Plourde also leads an annual interprofessional healthcare student elective to Haiti, in collaboration with Université Lumière in Port-au-Prince. In 2010, he received the Dr. Jack Armstrong Humanitarian Award from Doctors Manitoba for his work in Haiti.
